Senior was found in the snow away from his vehicle

Posted February 28, 2013

An 88-year-old Singhampton man was transported by air ambulance to a Toronto hospital this afternoon after Nottawasaga OPP discovered him in the snow in a wooded area near the regional sewage treatment plant.

OPP were initially called to the scene at approximately 11 am for a reported suspicious vehicle located in a construction site off the 14th Line.

"Police located the suspicious vehicle in a ditch, not near a roadway and followed snow covered tracks to find an 88 year old male from the Singhampton area in the snow," according to the press release. "Officers from the Nottawasaga OPP used all terrain vehicles (ATVs) to get back to the wooded area, New Tecumseth Fire Station 1 assisted with their specialized transport basket and the male was safely extricated out of the bush area."

He was transported by paramedics to Stevenson Memorial Hospital before being air lifted to Toronto for unspecified injuries and exposure to the elements.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators were on scene to try and determine the cause. No further details were provided at this post.
