An 18-year-old male from New Tecumseth is facing several charges in connection to an accident Friday night that caused injuries, and because the crash happened after the OPP tried to stop him for speeding, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been called in to probe the circumstances.

The SIU issued a press release today stating it has assigned three investigators, three forensic investigators, and a collision reconstructionist to go over the details "surrounding the injuries sustained by a 50-year-old woman during the late evening of Friday, May 2, 2014."

  • A short time later, the officer came upon a collision involving the pick-up truck and a second vehicle at Sideroad 15.
  • The female passenger of the second vehicle suffered a serious injury to her arm and was treated in hospital in Alliston. The two male drivers were treated at hospital for minor injuries. All have been released from hospital.
