U11 Boys clinch League title

This past Wednesday the South Simcoe United U11 Boys hosted Barrie at Mel Mitchell Fields. With a win United would be able to capture its first York Region Soccer League title. In what turned out to be a very spirited affair with action as both ends of the pitch the game remained close at half time tied 0-0.

United stormed out in the second half and broke the deadlock with a beautiful cross from the corner post from Preston Kopp to Nicholas Ciagagna who easily directed the ball into the net. Solid defense from Antonio Cassiello, Mitch Delange, Tyler Gerrard and Quinn Corey made life easy for Keeper Jake Letheren limiting Barrie to one shot in the second half.

Chris Catrambone put the game away with a superb solo effort with 10 minutes remaining. After being taken to the ground by the Barrie keeper on a break away Catrambone was able to regain his feet, recover the ball and pound it into the net for the 2-0 win behind the Barrie defensive unit to solidify the win and clinch the League Championship.

United finishes up their season vs Lake Simcoe FC in Keswick this Wednesday.

Congratulations to all team members and a great Championship season. Team members also include: Dylan Pehlman, John Arrizza, Sam Barnett, Ethan Byrne, Jake Barker, Matt Leblanc, Jaden Harvey-Dick and Joel Roberts.
