Police call for stabbing victim in Tottenham was false alarm

Posted July 3, 2012

Residents along Queen Street in Tottenham woke up Friday morning to the sight of a section, including St. Francis Church property, cordoned off by police tape after OPP were alerted to a possible stabbing incident.

OPP reported this morning they were called to the Tottenham Medical Clinic on Queen Street North in Tottenham that morning at 8:08 am in response to a male with a stab wound to the forearm.

"Police utilized the Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit and a Scenes of Crime Officer and after a thorough investigation determined that the allegation of an unknown male suspect was a false allegation," according to the press release. "Police apprehended a 31-year-old New Tecumseth resident and transported the male to Southlake Regional Hospital for an assessment."

Police ended the investigation without laying any charges as it was a self-inflicted wound that followed a domestic incident with his girlfriend.
