It's hockey season once again and the TNT Atom AA Tornados, sponsored
by Ken Beattie are back in action. With some noticeable changes this
year, the question on everyone's mind- Would the team perform the same
as last year?
The young Tornados squared off against the Stouffville Clippers in
their season opener and 11 seconds into the game, the young guns
answered the question on everyone's mind. Jackson 'Jet speed' Vojin
snapped a quick pass to Kyler 'K-Dog' MacNeil , who then deposited the
puck on the stick of Mitch 'Soft Hands' Smilsky. Smilsky found the
Clippers netminder wanting and put the puck into the back of the net.
After the first goal, the Clippers bared down and it was a back and
forth battle between the two teams, neither team giving any quarter to
the other. Despite numerous attempts, the young Tornados were unable to
increase their lead after the first.
The second period saw the Clippers continue their pressure and they
were determined to take back the goal that they had given up.
Unfortunately for the Clippers, Scotty 'The Wall' Barnett was living up
to his well-earned reputation and stymied the Clippers shooters every
chance he got. It was late in the second period when a quick pass
from Graysen 'All-Star' Alexander to Caleb 'Quick as Lightning'
Thompson doubled the score. 2-0
As the third period began, the Clippers were determined to get on the
board. They continued the pressure and fought hard until the dying
minutes of the period when a crack in their amour appeared. 'K-Dog'
MacNeil, found the stick of 'Soft Hands' Smilsky. Smilsky, true to his
nickname, subtly deposited the puck behind the Clippers backstop. 3-0.
Not to be outdone by his teammate, Michael 'The Magician' Meszaros
worked his magic and with the assistance of MacNeil made the
score 4-0, 10 seconds later.
The Clippers continued their pressure against the Tornados, undaunted
by the four goal deficit. They were determined to get rubber past 'The
Wall.' Alas, it was not meant to be. The young whirling dervishes
could taste victory. In the dying seconds of the period Riley 'the
Aussie' Norris found the stick of 'Jet Speed' Vojin. Vojin turned on
the jets and then snapped a quick shot and put the puck behind the
Clippers backstop to make the score 5-0.
The end of the game left no doubt in everyone's mind. The TNT Tornados
are back in action.
