TNT Midget LL

Midget LL #1 win Dorchester tournament

Posted December 2, 2013

The TNT Midget LL #1 team made the long and arduous trip to Dorchester (just east of London) Ontario to participate in a 3 day hockey tournament and when all was said and done, they left as winners, bagging the Championship against a strong Mt Brydges Cougars Gold team.

TNT had won three games straight in the tournament round robin against the Lindsay Muskies, Listowel Cyclones and Bradford Bulldogs #3. The team then came up against another Bradford Bulldogs team which we had so far not played against this year, the Bradford #1 team in the Semifinal game on Sunday morning.

After being down 2-0, TNT came roaring back and won the penalty filled game 6-3. Needless to say our coaches and parents were very proud of our players and the restraint they showed as the Bulldogs registered over 30 minutes in penalties and having numerous players/coaches and parents ejected from the game.

We now moved onto the Championship game against the Mt Brydges Cougars Gold team which had eliminated the other Mt Brydges team in the other Semi-final game. The excitement was high considering we had three injured players after the semi-final and with only 11 players this was going to be a dig deep and see who runs out of gas first game.

No problem as our players came to play and win, including the injured players who were taped up and played through the pain to win the Final 4-0. Another game against a strong team in which TNT showed how teamwork, strong skating, and passing the puck with great skill wins out all the time!

Congratulations to all the players at the tournament - Garrett Vander Zaag, Brayden Mills, Nathan Vajda, Brandon Marsh, Gabe Denoble, Billy Jonkman, Tyler Matson, David Armer, Ryan Clark, Michael MacEachern, and Goalie Hunter Beaupre.

Also thanks to the coaching staff for helping to maintain an even knell on the bench - Steve Matson, Bill Jonkman (with or without a trainer's kit), Les Vajda and Lorenzo Denoble for his off the bench assistance. No tournament could happen without the Parents (including Larry), thanks to all of them and a special thanks to Leslie MacEachern for finding the great accommodations in London.
