TNT Minor Hockey game reportsPosted October 29, 2012Minor Atom AE This weekend, the young Minor Atom AE Tornadoes hosted the East Gwilliambury Eagles. The eight day rest that the Tornados had didn't seem to affect them as they seem to dominate the first period and continually frustrated the Eagles by preventing them from soaring past their own blue line. The Eagles were finally able to break out of their own end after 5 minutes of play but were robbed of the opportunity to get on the scoreboard by Nathan Rose. The Eagles continued to apply pressure with the play going back and forth in both ends until in the latter minutes of the first period the tornados kicked it up a notch but despite the added effort they were unable to put any rubber in the net. 0-0. The second period saw the young Tornados continue to shift gears. At 8:23 Graham Reid takes the puck into Eagles territory and finds himself behind the net. With the Eagles starting to swarm around him, he quickly passes to Nicholas Rose, who is positioned in front of the net. Nicholas quickly buries it in the net. 1-0. The Tornados continue to apply pressure with two solid efforts by Graham Reid and Lucas Marshall; unfortunately they were thwarted by the Eagles backstop. The young Tornados whirled through the eagles, confusing and confounding them when finally Connor Gilmour snaps a quick pass to Lucas Marshall who quickly finds the stick of Brandon Jordan. Jordan then puts the puck up over the Eagles goalieÕs head to make it 2-0. After Jordan's goal, the Tornados shifted gears again and started whirling even faster past the Eagles but ran short of time. The third period saw the tornados continue their onslaught with Graham Reid sending a quick pass to Lucas Marshall who puts it behind the Eagles backstop within the first minute of play. 3-0. The Tornados continue their blitzkrieg type attacks, rarely given the Eagles goalie time to breathe when Connor Gilmour finds the puck on the end of his stick. A quick pass to Aiden Russell puts the score at 4-0. The eagles battled valiantly through the rest of the third period only to come up empty handed. Zac Osborne starts the play from deep inside the tornados end. A quick pass to Brett Lancaster, who carries it up the boards into Eagles territory. Lancaster then dumps the puck over to Connor Gilmour who puts it in the back of the net in the dying seconds of the third period, giving him his third goal of the season. 5-0. Nathan Rose earns his third shutout of the season. A special thanks to AJ McGarrity and his family for their continued support of their former team. Next the young tornados blow westward for an exhibition game against the Orangeville Flyers and then host the raging Georgina Blaze on Saturday. Major Peewee AA The TNT Peewee AA team was on the ice last Sunday (Oct. 21) against the Richmond Hill Stars and earned their first of two victories in a row with a 4-1 score. Mid way through the first period Ben Beausaert netted one assisted by Darcy Tainsh. The Stars battled back to find the net in the second. Minutes later Jeremy Anderson buried one assisted by Brandon Smyth and Jordan Maiolino. In the third it was Anderson once again assisted by Wade Cumberland and Maiolino. Smyth powered one in from the point unassisted finishing up the scoring. The team faced the Aurora Tigers on Tuesday and handed them a 4-2 loss. Cumberland opened up the scoring early in the second assisted by Maiolino and Chris Thorne. Beausaert found the mesh assisted by Matthew Mitchell and Braydon Lloyd. The Tigers battled back with one in the third that was promptly answered back by Ben Coram, assisted by Smyth and Mitchell. The opposition managed to score on a bullet like shot that somehow found a hole to battle back once again. Cumberland scored his second of the game assisted by Smyth and Caden Maher to finish up the scoring. |
