TNT Minor Hockey game reportsPosted November 19, 2012Minor Atom AA The TNT Tornados Minor Atom AA team sponsored by Ken Beattie Ltd. travelled to Richmond Hill to take on the upstart Stars. The last meeting saw some back and forth play with very little difference between them. This was sure to be a tough one as every one is coming to play the team at the top of the standings. In the first it was evident that the boys from Richmond Hill wanted to end our win streak as they took it to us early and often. Scotty "Balls" Barnett was equal to the challenge as he made save after save to keep the game all-square. Midway through the first frame, the tenacious play of Alexander, Forrest and Michael Meszaros paid off as they broke the deadlock. Finisher on this play was Michael "the Magician" Meszaros. 1-0 after one. In the second, the ball started to roll as the boys started making passes and making plays. Early in the second on a give and go, saw Jackson "end to end action" Vojin scored from the point. Assisted by Dalziel Kirby and Kyler MacNeil. Even with the chances, the game remained close after the second as the boys from TNT took a 2-1 lead into the final frame. It was the third that these young phenoms decided enough was enough and scored early and often. First was the feisty play from "All-Star" Alexander who slammed one directly in and not off a glove. Assists by Meszaros and Forrest. Next to score on a blast from the point that was whistled early was Jacob "the Howitzer" Holmes on a pass from Vojin and Cole Turcotte. Then on the same power play, Vojin slammed in his second of the game on a pass from Turcotte and Steven Mercer. One minute later, Wylie "the Wizard" Birkett snapped one in on a feed from MacNeil and Hayden Santo. Then on an along the boards rush, Holmes back handed a bullet in the upper deck on a feed from Colin Ewing. Next up to snipe was Caleb "Quick as Lightning" Thompson on help from Mitchell Smilsky and Ewing. Then to put it away for the night was "Shoots like a Cannon" Turcotte from Birkett and Santo. Make the final a whopping (9 in our hearts) 7 on the board. 7-1 final. The very next day, the boys hosted the ferocious Tigers of Aurora and this was sure to be a classic. The Tigers were flying up the charts lately and could use the two points to make waves around the league. The first frame saw our boys take it to the visiting cats as they cycled low and fired from the points. At the end of the first it was 1-0 home side on a bullet from Turcotte from Birkett and Mercer. In the second, the dominance continued as MacNeil barked on a pass from Vojin and Smilsky. Next to dazzle on a go to the net was Thompson who roofed one high on a pass from Santo and Kirby. 3-0 after two. With the game in hand, the boys were content playing dump and chase as the young Tigers were unable to make up the ground. In the end, Smilsky slammed one home on a feed from Turcotte and Holmes to make the final 4-0 Good Guys. Awesome Shut out for Barnett. Great weekend boys. Major Peewee AA The TNT Peewee AA team faced the Stouffville Clippers on Tuesday (Nov. 15) at the NTRC winning by a 2-1 score. Ben Coram scored unassisted in the third period. The Clippers managed to squeeze one in but the victory was sealed when Wade Cumberland scored unassisted. The boy's faced the East Gwillimbury for a Sunday afternoon battle that resulted in a 7-3 final for TNT. Late in the first period Ben Beausaert buried the biscut unassisted. In the second Matthew Mitchell scored assisted by Beausaert. The opposition battled back with one however Jeremy Anderson put the team further ahead assisted by Cumberland. Jordan Maiolino would pounce on the puck to find the net assisted by Anderson. Cumberland turned on the jets and dangled through the defence to plug one through the five hole, entertaining the fans to a phenomenal solo effort. Nice goal Wade. Connor DeVries powered one in with a great assist from Ben Coram. Braydon Lloyd rocketed one in assisted by Mitchell to finish off the scoring. |
