Walsh jumps in to defend mayor's post

Posted September 2, 2010

Tom Walsh, who has been mayor of Adjala-Tosorontio since 1997, has signed on to run for a 5th term.

Mr. Walsh officially entered the race on Monday.

He'll be defending against his Ward 1 councillor Jack Jordan, and previous combatant Leo Losereit, who has twice fallen short in his bids to unseat the incumbent mayor.

Mr. Walsh's decision to seek reelection muddies the speculation surrounding deputy mayor Doug Little's election plans. Though whatever Mr. Little had planned, would have been impacted by recent serious injuries suffered to his hand and wrist from a riding mower accident at his home.

Mr. Little spent about a week in hospital, and will have to undergo extensive physical therapy over the next year.
