Posted May 2, 2014

Two Toronto males were held overnight in custody facing several charges related to a break and enter yesterday morning near Loretto.

Nottawasaga OPP reported this morning a constable on patrol yesterday at 9:30 am "was flagged down by a homeowner on County Road 1, east of Concession 2, stating they had just arrived home to discover a break and enter in progress to their shop. A vehicle fled the scene after striking the homeowners' vehicle. This vehicle was identified and Nottawasaga OPP sent out information to neighbouring Detachments to be on the lookout for a Grey Ford van."

As Nottawasaga, and Dufferin OPP were patrolling the area north of Hwy 9, the suspect vehicle was speeding south on Cty Rd 50, where it was met by Caledon OPP south of Palgrave.

An 18-year-old Toronto man is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Break and Enter, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Driving while under Suspension (Highway Traffic Act). The second male, 29, is charged with Break and Enter, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Both were scheduled for a bail hearing today in Barrie.
