Two Toronto males were held overnight in custody facing several charges
related to a break and enter yesterday morning near Loretto.
Nottawasaga OPP reported this morning a constable on patrol yesterday
at 9:30 am "was flagged down by a homeowner on County Road 1, east of
Concession 2, stating they had just arrived home to discover a break
and enter in progress to their shop. A vehicle fled the scene after
striking the homeowners' vehicle. This vehicle was identified and
Nottawasaga OPP sent out information to neighbouring Detachments to be
on the lookout for a Grey Ford van."
As Nottawasaga, and Dufferin OPP were patrolling the area north of Hwy
9, the suspect vehicle was speeding south on Cty Rd 50, where it was
met by Caledon OPP south of Palgrave.
An 18-year-old Toronto man is charged with Possession of Property
Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Break and Enter, Dangerous Operation of
a Motor Vehicle and Driving while under Suspension (Highway Traffic
Act). The second male, 29, is charged with Break and Enter, Possession
of Property Obtained by Crime.
Both were scheduled for a bail hearing today in Barrie.
