Tottenham youth total's friend's car, facing multiple charges

Posted May 12, 2008

Here's one straight from the real life blooper reel that doesn't have a funny ending or does the business of friendship any favours.

On Saturday night, at approximately 10:30 pm, South Simcoe Police were called to the scene of a single vehicle accident in Cookstown, that "had gone off the road and into some bushes."

"Officers attended the scene and spoke with the 17 year old driver of the car," according to the police report. "The youth had been consuming alcohol prior to the collision. After speaking to witnesses, the 17 year old male from Tottenham was charged with Careless driving and Drive Motor Vehicle no licence, both contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The youth was also charged with Consuming alcohol while under age contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. The car involved, which belongs to a friend of the youth, had to be towed from the scene with severe damage."
