Hornets open tournament play against new Orillia team tonight
Local Jr. C fans will get the opportunity tonight to see the GMOHL's
expansion team, the Orillia Terriers, play for the first time in the
opening match of the 7th Annual Alliston Hornet Preseason tournament at
The Terriers meet the home side Hornets at 7:30 pm in the 16 team
opener at the NTRC. The 14 other teams, including an entry of TNT
Midget AA and younger Hornets hopefuls, will play their openers
tomorrow starting at 4:30 pm with Stayner and Caledon on tap followed
by games going on both sheets of ice.
Alliston is the defending tournament champions, and have won five of
the first six preseason titles, a string of four consecutive broken by
the Stayner Siskins in 2011. Their coach at the time, Ed Garinger, is now behind
Alliston's bench making his debut tonight in game action.
The preseason tournament tends to be the last opportunity for players
on the so-called bubble to make last impressions on their respective teams as final cuts follow its conclusion and the regular season gets underway next week.
