
Crowd forming for mayor's seat in Adjala-Tosorontio

Three's now a crowd in Adjala-Tosorontio as Ward 2 councillor Bob Meadows signs on to run for Mayor.
Meadows joins a list that includes incumbent Scott Anderson, and Ward 1 councillor Anub Simson.
Incumbent Deputy Mayor Julius Lachs and Amanda Gervasi in Ward 1, are the only others registered in Adj-Tos to run in the October 26 elections.
In New Tecumseth, the only race to date is in Ward 6 as Ward 7 incumbent Shira Harrison McIntyre moves to a restructured Ward 6. She's being challenged by Kyle Warren.
Deputy Mayor Stephanie MacLellan remains sole candidate for mayor, as does Ward 5 councillor Marc Biss as he tries to move up to Deputy Mayor.
In the Wards, Chris Rapin is in Ward 1; Wendy Gabrek, Ward 2; Tony Phekoo in Ward 3; Alan Masters, Ward 4; Nicole Cox, Ward 5.
Ward 7 remains open.
In Essa, Incumbent Mayor Sandie Macdonald and Incumbent Deputy Mayor Michael Smith seek reelection. Ward 1 incumbent Pieter Kiezebrink, and in Ward 3, incumbent Liana Maltby are signed on. Ward 2 remains open.
Incumbent Essa Adjala-Tosorontio SCDSB trustee Brandy Rafeek, and New Tecumseth Essa Adjala-Tos SMCDSB incumbent trustee Janice Hutchison seek reelection.
Residents eligible to run for municipal or school board office have until Aug. 21 @ 2 pm to register.
