Demolition to expand public parking in Tottenham starts in two weeks

Posted July 31, 2025

Downtown Tottenham streetscape to change beginning Aug. 11 when the Town starts demolition of the buildings located on the northwest corner of Queen and Mill Street to expand public parking in the area as the first phase of its redevelopment.

New Tecumseth purchased the property at 4 Mill Street for $3.7 million in a deal that closed May 29. It includes a model home which will be removed first, followed later this fall by removal of the self-serve car wash. There are 36 current parking spaces available.

"During the demolition, the site will be fenced off and nearby sidewalks will be temporarily closed to ensure public safety," according to the public notice. "While no road closures are expected, residents and visitors should expect some noise and dust in the area. Those traveling through the Mill Street and Queen Street intersection are asked to use extra caution, as crews and equipment will be active nearby.

Once the site is cleaned up and safe to access, the new parking area will be opened to the public."
