Electric scooter operator struck after falling off, succumbed to injuries

South Simcoe Police investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday, November 3, shortly after 5 pm on Simcoe County Road 53 (5 Sideroad) near Line 9 of Innisfil.

"A 41-year-old male from Barrie was operating a small electric kick scooter northbound on 5 Sideroad when he became separated from the scooter and ended up on the roadway," according to police.  "The man was subsequently struck by a northbound motorcycle, operated by an 82-year-old male, also from Barrie."

The scooter operator was transported to hospital in Barrie, where he succumbed to his injuries. The motorcyclist was treated at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation, which is ongoing.​
