Suspicious fire in Colgan under investigation

Nottawasaga OPP investigating an early morning fire of a house under construction in Colgan. Emergency crews were called out at 04:29 am for the structure fire on Marigold Boulevard in a new subdivision, in the area of County Road 14 and Concession Road 8. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. South Simcoe Police have also been investigating several arsons to houses under construction in Bond Head.
County councillors vote to phase-in new salary levels

Simcoe County councillors this morning upended a recommendation that would have implemented increases to their salaries beginning with the next term of council, voting instead to phase in by one-third in each of 2025, 2026, and 2027 eventually reaching $47,717, up from $18,079.
Clarke uncontested for second term as Warden

Simcoe Manor Village occupancy on pace for fall 2026

The $354 million multi-faceted construction of the Simcoe Manor, Village Centre and Supportive/Affordable Housing buildings remain on target to begin the first phase of occupancy in October 2026 with the Life Lease/Market Rental and Retirement Living building, Co-Housing, Garden and Town Homes following in 2027, according to the updated prepared for Simcoe County councillors.
