Posted February 14, 2025
Nominations are now closed with five candidates to run for Member of Provincial Parliament, including the incumbent, in the Feb. 27 Ontario elections in Simcoe-Grey.
They are: Ted Crysler, Liberal; David Ghobrial, New Blue Party; Allan Kuhn, Green Party; incumbent Brian Saunderson, PC; and Benten Tinkler, NDP. Only Tinkler didn't appear on the 2022 ballot from this group.
Simcoe-Grey is made up of Collingwood, New Tecumseth, Blue Mountains, Wasaga Beach, Adjala-Tosorontio, Clearview, and Essa.
The five candidates are down from seven in 2022, which fits the provincial trend. Elections Ontario reported this morning
a total of 768 candidates and 20 parties are running in this election. In 2022, there were 900 candidates and 25 parties on the ballot. This represents a 14.6 per cent decrease in the number of candidates and a 20 per cent decrease in the number of parties participating.
Starting next week, voter information cards will be on their way to those on the voters list. While voter information cards are not required to vote, voters can still add their information to the list until February 17th at RegistertoVoteON.ca to make their experience faster and easier when they go to vote. Voters can also access a scannable version of their voter information card when they create an account on the Elections Ontario app.
