
Town steps in to purchase downtown Tottenham property

The Town of New Tecumseth is the new owner of prime real estate in downtown Tottenham believed to have agreed to purchase several parcels for $3.7 million. Deal closed today.
The subject site is bounded by Queen, Mill and Walkem Dr. and among other features, contains the do it your self car wash. It has been owned for decades by Bo Niederhuber and his family,
Included in this acquisition is the existing parking lot at the corner of Queen and Mill, which currently provides 36 parking spaces.
"In the weeks following, necessary construction will take place, leading to short-term disruptions in the area as we rework the corner site and existing graveled parking lot," according to the press release. This will involve removing the former office structure and increasing the number of gravel parking spaces to accommodate additional vehicles."
“The purchase of these properties is an interim solution to Tottenham’s parking needs. In 2026, Council will initiate a consultation process to determine the long-term use of the properties, engaging with residents to shape the future of this area,'
