St. Thomas Aquinas high school expansion on pace for 2026 opening
Posted January 20, 2025
The Simcoe Muskoka District Catholic School Board expects the $8.6 million expansion of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School in Tottenham to begin this spring 2025 and to be ready for a 2026 occupancy.
Trustees were provided with the concept drawings and presentation from the architects last week. The addition will include 12 classrooms over two storeys to accommodate 276 more students, and a new gymnasium all affixed to the east side of the current building. It still has to work through provincial and municipal planning approvals.
It's the school's first significant expansion since 2002 when 14 new classrooms were added replacing the original 10 built in the mid 1980s.
St. Thomas is the New Tecumseth region's only Catholic high school.
