Gun shots fired at home in Cookstown

South Simcoe Police investigating early morning gunfire aimed at a house in Cookstown.
At approximately 4:25 am multiple shots were fired at a home on Mumberson Street.
"Preliminary reports indicate that a suspected dark small SUV was involved. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Officers responded promptly, and a thorough investigation is underway involving members of Uniform Patrol, Forensic Identification Unit and Criminal Investigation Bureau," according to police. "The motive behind this act remains unknown at this stage, therefore residents are urged to remain vigilant. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be provided as it becomes available."
Police are appealing to anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to come forward with details that could assist in the investigation.
