Monsignor J.E Ronan expansion, and a new Wasaga Beach high school on list of funded projects

Posted January 28, 2025

A 184-student-space, $3.9 million elementary school addition to Monsignor J.E. Ronan Catholic School in Beeton, is among the 45 capital projects to be financed out of a $1.3 billion Ministry of Education funding package. The school opened in 2001.

The 30 new schools and 15 additions were selected from the 2024-25 capital priorities program each school board submits for approval each year.

After years of lobbying, Wasaga Beach, the largest municipality in Simcoe County without its own public secondary school, will receive $59.3 million for a 1,145 student-space building. Last Wasaga received funding for a JK to Gr. 12 Catholic school.

A new 616-student-space school in southeast Barrie at a cost of $27.1 million, and  184-student-space elementary school addition at Notre Dame Catholic School in Orillia, $3.9 million, were the other projects approved.
