
Alliston man's disappearance in 2023 now deemed a homicide, two charged

Derek Perry, (pictured) then 34, of Alliston, was reported missing on July 17, 2023. Perry had last been seen in mid-June 2023. Police made a further appeal for his whereabouts in October 2024.
Earlier this week on July 6 and 7, Nottawasaga OPP arrested and charged an Alliston male and female in connection with his disappearance, now a homicide investigation.
"At this time, we can confirm that the investigation into the missing person/homicide case remains active and ongoing," said Mckayla Cotey, OPP, CSO/ Media Relations Officer. "Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation and to preserve its integrity of the case, we are unable to share specific details into the case, including whether a body has been located.
Eddy Gagnon, 30, is charged with Second degree murder, and Indignity to dead body.
Krystal Carleton, 36, is charged with Indignity to dead body, and Accessory after the fact to murder.
The accused individuals remain in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled before the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on a later date.
The investigation is being conducted by the Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Anyone with information is urged to contact the OPP.
