Simcoe County budget totalling more than $1,000 on average New Tecumseth tax bill

Simcoe County's draft 2025 budget proposes to spend $695 million, requiring a four per cent levy increase that would raise more than $225 million in taxation totalling $311.48 per $100,000 of market value assessment on a single detached home.

 

The budget package, which includes $16 million increase in salaries, benefits, and over 30 new employees, will be presented to councillors tomorrow (Oct. 29) in special session. It's expected a final package would be approved on Nov. 26.

 

The largest tax hit is for solid waste management, which will eat $56 million of the $225 million levy.
