2026 fee increase in New Tecumseth adds charges for tax certificates, roll set up

New Tecumseth's annual municipal fee rate increases are estimated to raise an additional $68,000 in revenues beginning Jan. 1, 2026.

 

Feeding most of the new revenue stream of $62,000 is through the creation of a new General Administration fee schedule for which it will now cost $40 per tax certificate and new roll set up; $20 for Mortgage Company fee; and cost plus 50 per cent for the Town's out-of-pocket expenses, as a result of carrying out the requirements of liability claims against others.

Ownership Change: fee covers administrative processing required to update property ownership records and ensure accurate billing for the new owner. Reflects staff time, system updates, and verification.

 

New Roll Setup Fee Severances/Consolidations: This fee covers the administrative work required to create/adjust tax/utility accounts following property severances or consolidation. Includes verification of legal changes, system updates and billing.

 

Mortgage Company Fee (Interim & Final Billings) - This fee applies to mortgage companies that request interim and final bills and are paying on behalf of their client. The fee covers the administrative time required to prepare, verify, audit and issue accurate billings.

 

Claims by Municipality: The administrative fee is for the recovery of the Town's out of pocket expenses for pursuing liability claims for damages incurred by the Town.

At the same time, New Tecumseth is deleting the $41.25 per box fee  for retreiving off-site documents as part of routine disclosures and FOI requests, because "the Town no longer has records in off-site storage. The new administration building includes file storage room.

​

The overall fee increases for parks and recreation estimated an additional $4,700 in revenue.
