SMH names new President and CEO

Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) announced Deepak Sharma as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective March 16, 2026.

Sharma is currently the Vice President, Strategy & Organizational Performance at William Osler Health System, where he has led the development, launch and implementation of the strategic plan, aligning organizational priorities with community health needs and future system transformation.

Prior to joining Osler, Sharma was at North York General Hospital as Interim Vice President, Strategy, Integration and Health Information and as Director, Business Intelligence, Health Information Management and Patient Flow.

Deepak brings over 20 years of progressive experience in decision support and business intelligence, including leadership roles in large community and academic health facilities.

 

His formal education includes a Master of Health Science, Health Administration from the University of Toronto, an Honours Bachelor of Science, Health Sciences from the University of Waterloo and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from York University, Schulich School of Business.

SMH has operated without a full-time CEO since the April 2024 retirement of Jody Levac. It had been filled to now as an interim position under supervision of the Ministry of Health.
