Honda joins in appeal of Value Centres plans in Alliston
Posted May 28, 2026
A years' long appeal related to a high density mix of residential/hotel, and commercial development in east end Alliston has a new participant, Honda Canada, granted Party status in time for a case management conference (CMC), in October.
The subject property is approximately 8.9 hectares in size located 689 Victoria Street E, at the southwest corner of Industrial Parkway/County Rd 10. Its working title is (Piersanti) Value Centres, which initially was OMB approved for some commercial and a big box hardware store.
While no development has occurred since the original approval, Piersanti sought to rewrite its development proposal that now includes nine, six and seven storey apartment buildings, at-grade commercial uses in a “piazza” or “village” type setting concentrating on pedestrian & bike friendly uses such as cafes, galleries, boutiques, lofts, professional offices, as well as a surrounding walking & bike trails, privately owned amenities, public & park space, tennis/basketball court.
-On east side of Site is Retail Commercial being 8 one storey commercial buildings in a supermarket anchored shopping centre format of about 90,000 sq. ft. surrounded by walking and biking trails.
The Tribunal received one Party status request prior to the May 19 CMC from Honda Canada Inc. and Honda of Canada Mfg.
"As Honda is the owner of the lands directly adjacent to the Subject Lands, and after review of Honda’s concerns pertaining to the Applications, the Tribunal ruled that Honda meets the criteria of a Party and approved their Party status request to this matter," according to the May 22 CMC memorandum.
Honda's concerns include the incompatibility of residential uses butting up against large industrial and the increased traffic on area roads.
The other hard delay continues to be the lack of water capacity to service the Piersanti proposal.
The next CMC is October 26.
